Majitha in Amritsar district gave its name to the Majithia family, one of the leading sardar families of the Lahore state. Desa Singh Majithia was governor of the hill country; his son Lehna Singh Majithia was a commander, an administrator and an engineer.
Lehna Singh Majithia is the most unusual of them. He built instruments, worked on clocks and astronomical devices, cast guns, and was interested in European mechanics to a degree that European visitors remarked on. He designed a clock and an astrolabe and corresponded on scientific subjects.
Ranjodh Singh Majithia commanded at Aliwal in 1846.
Dyal Singh Majithia, of the same family, founded The Tribune at Lahore in 1881 and endowed Dyal Singh College. He was a Brahmo and left his estate to public trusts, which his family contested.
One village's family produced a provincial governor, an amateur scientist, a general and the founder of the region's newspaper of record, inside a century.
The Majithia family produced generals of the Sikh state and a line of political figures in the twentieth century.
Lehna Singh Majithia was an engineer and an astronomer as well as a commander, working on gun founding, on a calendar and on instruments, which is an unusual combination in that court.
Majitha is a small town near Amritsar with the family's buildings in varying condition and no interpretation of any of it.
